Research Summary

My research interests are related to taxonomy and knowledge of Neotropical biodiversity. For years, I have been working on the families Sciomyzidae, Syrphidae, Ephydridae and Tephritidae. The description of species of these families of flies and the understanding of their evolutionary history  have been the main objectives of my work and cooperation. I am an associate researcher at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, since 2008, as I have been conducting research in cooperation with Dr. Wayne N. Mathis, Dr. Christian Thompson and Dr. Allen Norrbom. I have been dedicating efforts for its valorization and recognition since 2005, when I started the Paranaense Network of Biological Collections (Rede Paranaense de Coleções Biológicas – Taxonline). I currently coordinate the New Arrangement of Research and Innovation of the State of Paraná (Novo Arranjo de Pesquisa e Inovação do Estado do Paraná – NAPI Taxonline), consisting of biological collections from 13 institutions in the State.
